Celebrating a special anniversary

At the beginning of the month, we have celebrated a special occasion: the 60th wedding anniversary of two of our residents, Christel and Horst. The two have lived at Martin Luther Homes (MLH) for almost 13 years and have contributed significantly towards creating the lovely community that we have here at MLH. Horst now lives in the aged care facility and Christel in the retirement village, so the two had not only one (surprise) party but two.

Unsuspectingly, Christel and Horst were asked to stop by the Activity Room on their way out. The couple were surprised by our aged care residents in the beautifully decorated room and got congratulated by everyone. After a toast, they even had a dance together, just like in old times. When Christel and Horst left to go home, they were told that there is a second stopover. Our residents from the retirement village awaited the couple in the Community Hall with another surprise party in their honour. Horst and Christel enjoyed their special celebrations and thank everyone for the lovely afternoon!

Staff Celebration

On 7 August was ‘Aged Care Employee Day’. This is a national day of recognition to celebrate Australia’s aged care workers. We have such wonderful staff working here at Martin Luther Homes and it was time for a well earned staff celebration in honour of this day. For this, we have also organised an e-card, an electronic card, with a lot of heartfelt messages of appreciation to our staff from relatives and other members of the Martin Luther Homes community. Our residents also said ‘thank you’ to our staff via video messages.

During the celebration, we have also acknowledged the recent working milestones of our staff. Everyone who has been a part of the Martin Luther Homes team for 5, 10, 15 and 20 years since the past milestones celebration last year. A total of 20 staff members received a special certificate and a present. Below you see some of our staff that have reached a milestone in the past year. Everyone enjoyed the celebration and really appreciated the nice messages they got from our residents and the rest of our Martin Luther Homes community.
