A special premiere in our Retirement Village

As previously reported, some of our residents have been working with a research team from Swinburne University (Sonja, Mia and Diego). They have been coming on-site regularly for about a year now. The team conducts a research on engagement with technology in aged care settings. Together with Marlene, our Culture & Communications Officer, they have been doing the weekly technology session in the aged care facility.

Diego, Mia and Sonja have also been meeting with residents from our retirement village. They have not only talked about questions our residents have in regards to technology and their own devices. They have also started working on a project: Our ILUs were asked to tell a story from their life visualised with the help of technology. This project has been running for almost a year now and it was finally time to present the results, in form of short films.

The group has invited other residents, friends and family members to show their very own short films. It was a lovely afternoon that started with a toast to our residents. Everyone enjoyed the presentations of the short films made by our residents with the help of the research team.

Christel’s short film was about a story from her childhood. Ron talked about his memories of Sydney from when he was a child. Merryl presented a short film about her ancestors and Annabelle did two short films about her first car and the time she participated in a cooking competition. Everyone enjoyed the short films and was very impressed. What a success!
