What’s Your Story? New podcast series launched
What’s your Story? Podcast Project launched
In our monthly newsletter, Martin Luther Homes has asked its residents to get in touch, if they want their story to be told and recorded. We were excited to frequently hear from residents who want to ensure that their personal experiences aren’t lost and that future generations have the chance to access them in years to come.
In 2018, podcasting has reached new heights and it looks like the new way to listen to audio formats is here to stay. We have therefore decided, to get the microphone out and to meet with our talents face-to-face.
The result is a series of podcasts that record the stories of residents in a very close-up and intimate, yet respectful way. The first two episodes were actually recorded by a journalist from Sydney, Alex Lloyd, who works for the podcast series ‘Life on the Line’. This innovative podcast format captures the stories of Australian servicemen and women with a particular focus on the militarised conflicts Australia has been involved in.
Lloyd was particularly interested in the wartime stories of our residents Eugen Pichurra and Horst Haase, both of whom have fought for their native Germany during World War II. You can listen to their stories on various platforms by clicking on the images below.
Future episodes with Martin Luther Homes are already in the making and will be published soon on this website. Coming up is Monika Kostroa who grew up in bombed-out Hamburg and later realised her lifelong dream of owning an Australian hobby farm.
If you or a relative is interested in being portrayed and in sharing their story, please get in touch with Kelsang Zimwock at reception on 9760 2100 or via email info@martinlutherhomes.com.au.
