Knox Mayor embraces Martin Luther Homes

Martin Luther Homes staff and residents had a fantastic time at the recently held Knox Active Ageing Expo. It was the first time Knox City Council put on this event and we believe it was an outstanding success and drawcard for senior citizens in the outer east of Melbourne.

Martin Luther Homes was represented with an engaging stall by Deputy Clinical Manager Steven Yan and Customer Liaison Officer Evelin Martin. Both were not only delighted by the attention they had received from many locals, who wanted to know more about the services and facilities Martin Luther Homes provides, but also by the time Knox Mayor John Mortimore dedicated to our stall. Mortimore literally embraced our staff and confirmed that, as a long-term Boronia/Basin resident, he knows our home all too well.

Yet, not only staff were telling interested visitors more about the benefits of choosing Martin Luther Homes as an ideal place to retire, but also our residents themselves. Lifestyle Coordinator Birgit Gisler was in charge of organising transport for residents to get to the expo safely. She confirmed that the Martin Luther Homes bus was booked out quickly and that residents truly enjoyed the information provided at the many exhibition stalls that were all centred around the aged care industry including health, activities as well as volunteering.

Another highlight, however, were the engaging talks and the beautiful catering that was provided for exhibitors and visitors alike. Hopefully, there will be another Active Ageing Expo next year that we are more than happy to participate in.
