Intergenerational Program
We have recently started an Intergenerational Program with a local preschool. Some of our aged care residents visited the preschool for the first time at the end of July. It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved! Our residents and the kids enjoyed painting together painting, playing outside, making cards, and reading books.
Residents, staff, and the children have been chatting about the visit and sharing their stories with everyone afterwards. We also had a lot of good feedback from the teachers and a member of the Knox Council who was also present. Here are some lovely pictures from this special day:
A teacher shared a comment that has encapsulated the visit : “One of our children who takes time to warm up and trust others, said to me after spending some time with one of the residents: ‘I have made a friend for life’. How amazing is that?”
After the success from of first visit to the preschool, the children and their teachers with the help of some parents visited the residents at our facility. It was a joy to see everyone engaging with each other! Have a look yourself:
We plan to continue this Intergenerational Program with regular visits from the children to our residents and vice versa. Rest assured, we will keep you updated on this exciting and beautiful new program.
