Henny Penny Hatching

A second year in row and just in time for Easter, we are taking part in the Henny Penny Hatching program. This means, we have our very own little chicks at Martin Luther Homes for about two weeks.

Our aged care residents (and staff) are able to watch eggs hatching in a specially designed incubator. After this, the hatched chicks can be observed at play in a large, clear-sided brooding pen. On the Henny Penny website, they describe it as follows: ‘In essence, we bring a little piece of the country to the city, making the wonder of Mother Nature accessible to all.’

This is certainly an exciting and special interactive activity and brings much joy! Everyone adores these little creatures. Have a look yourself:
