Thanks for Donating & Testing

The Covid-numbers are going down and we at Martin Luther Homes are proud to have remained Covid-free. This combined effort would not have been possible without the hard work of our staff and the support and cooperation of our residents and their families.

The other good news is that our fundraiser for a Tovertafel, a magic table, has almost reached the required amount. All we need now is a few more donations and we can purchase the magic projector that has been developed especially for people with dementia. Find out how you can help in this newsletter!

Another round of testing: We have all had the opportunity to undergo asymptomatic testing; and the good news is, we have all tested negative for the Coronavirus, yet again. The all-important and frequent testing is a crucial part of our strategy to keep the virus out of our facility. The testing process has become very efficient, and results have been provided to most of us in less than 24 hours. A big ‘Thank you’ goes out to all of our residents and staff who have taken part in the latest round of testing.

We are so close! As you might be aware, we have launched a FUNDRAISER in August to purchase a ‘Magic Table’ that will bring much excitement and many laughs to our homes. It is an interactive projector especially designed to engage people with dementia. All we need now is an extra cash injection to reach the magic number of $15,000 to buy this device as early as November. Every donation matters now, whether it is 5 or 500 Dollars. A big Thank You for your kindness!

At the start of the month, we have celebrated the International Day of the Older Person, naturally a very special event for us. The Activities team dressed up, set up a Café on wheels, and served up hot drinks all around the facility, accompanied by beautiful Viennese tunes and plenty of laughter. We have also individualised our mobile library, now offering one-on-one readings in the comfort of the resident's very own room.

R'n Rs went online! We would like to thank all of our residents' family members who have joined us online for the first-ever round of Zoom Resident & Relative Meetings over the internet. While the format was a new experience for everyone, it was just as constructive and enlightening as the on-site meetings prior to Covid. Stay tuned for the announcement of the next round!
