Infection Control Coordinator

Martin Luther Homes is recruiting an Infection Control Coordinator for its award-winning aged care facility in Melbourne’s outer east. The position is p/t with the prospect of being made f/t for the right candidate.

This is a newly created role that reports to the Director of Quality & Operations. You will take charge of the supervision and implementation, as well as constant improvement, of our infection control policies and practices.

If you are an experienced nurse (RN) with extensive skills in the field of staff education and infection control, we would like to hear from you.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and expand our system of infection control and prevention
  • Adhere to best practice guidelines and principles
  • Provide expert knowledge and advice
  • Provide clinical education and information regarding infection control to nursing and care staff, as well as back of house employees, contractors, residents and families
  • Develop and implement infection control procedures and policies relevant to clinical care and infectious waste
  • Responsible for compliance audits
  • Monitor infection control standards and data
  • Create a Covid-safe working and living environment
  • Manage outbreaks such as gastro, influenza, corona virus etc.
  • Provide comprehensive reports at a high-standard to senior management
  • Implement and manage an Infection Control Committee

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experienced Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications in infection control or work towards such qualification
  • Desirable but not essential: Certificate IV in Assessment and Training
  • Previous clinical education and infection control experience
  • Sound knowledge of infection control policies and regulations
  • Experience working with the elderly is considered an advantage
