Are we over the hill yet? This question has been asked by many in Australia, Melbourne, and here at Martin Luther Homes. While no one can answer this question with 100% certainty, we can say for sure that we have made it successfully to where we are right now. Nevertheless, the ‘Corona journey’ seems to be more of a roller coaster than a straight line forward. If everyone does the right thing and follows instructions, infection rates will stay low and the risk of catching Covid-19 will also go down.

Nevertheless, we have enjoyed many happy moments at Martin Luther Homes in recent weeks. Special Mother's Day visits took place, we have celebrated our staff with a social distance bbq, and we have been busy getting our flu vaccinations. Did you know that the flu shot is now a must for everybody entering an aged care facility? Keep up the good spirits!

Thank You - BBQ! We are proud of our team spirit and supportive culture here at Martin Luther Homes. The least we can do is to say ‘thank you’ to our staff who are also facing their own challenges due to the current restrictions, not just at work, but also outside of their workplace. To show our gratitude, we thought yummy food is the perfect answer. The weather was great and there was plenty to choose from. While social distancing was in place, there were still plenty of laughs and good stories that were shared. Thanks again to everyone who works at Martin Luther Homes!
It was a very different Mother’s Day this year. Like anyone around Melbourne, no one was allowed to go over and spend the day with mum, Mutti, or Mama. Our residents and their families have made the most of the challenging circumstances, and there were plenty of cards, presents, and, in some cases, even flowers. Some spoke to their loved ones over the phone, others took advantage of our video chats, and more than a dozen booked in for a ‘window visit’.
Kerrin has only recently joined our Activities Team. She is a Boronia local and has decades of experience in the aged care sector. She has a wide variety of skills that she will bring to your lifestyle program, including music and arts & crafts.
Martin Luther Homes would like to personally thank Dr Sonja Pedell and Dr Stuart Favilla from Swinburne University. The two researchers have a special interest in aged care and we truly appreciate the loan of several digital devices and accessories that are of great benefit to our residents, especially during the challenging times we are currently experiencing.
Do you want to have a video chat with your loved one at Martin Luther Homes? No problem, just download the Google Duo app on your smartphone and contact Oliver on oheuthe@martinlutherhomes.com.au to book your spot between Monday - Friday. Regular weekly spots are also available.
Did you know? Since May 1, you must not enter an aged care facility in Australia if you can't produce an up-to-date flu vaccination certificate.
