It seems like the world has changed a fair bit in recent months, however, Australia is probably one of the safest countries to be in right now, and our staff are doing everything in their power to make Martin Luther Homes one of the safest places in Australia.

A big ‘Thank you!’ goes out to everyone who supports us in practicing social distancing rules like Ursula who has started to enjoy her balcony a lot more in recent weeks. However, not much has changed for our residents in the aged care facility as we now run an even more comprehensive activities program. We have set up regular video chats with friends and families, and we even have the Pastors speak to our residents on a weekly basis.

Easter was a bit different this year but there were still many laughs and some claim to even have spotted the Easter Bunny around the facility.

Who says you can't play a concert to a crowd 👪 during Covid-19? When Pastor Christoph got his guitar out in our carpark, all the windows and balcony doors opened and all of a sudden, we had a new choir that was heard around the village, singing in German and English.
An Easter Surprise
Over the Easter Long-Weekend, we organised special visits from close family members. Yes, there was serious social distancing in place, and yes, there was glass in-between the residents and visitors. But in times of Covid-19, this was still a very treasured moment for people on both sides of the windowpane. Our residents were able to hear and talk to their loved ones on the other side through a loudspeaker. A big ‘Thank you’ goes out to the staff who came in on Easter to make this very unusual family gathering a reality.
As soon as it became clear that we won’t be able to welcome visitors from the outside, our two German pastors have agreed that they will make their pastoral care available online. Pastor Peter and Pastor Christoph are now visiting us through a big smart tv where they engage with our residents weekly.
While most of society seems to have gone online in recent weeks, we are also busy building a whole new website that will include many new exciting features such as a picture gallery, online videos, links to our social media pages, and new susbscribe options to our newsletters and room availability. Stay tuned!
